You’re Allowed to Disconnect

The cooling off is beginning. The heat has been unendurable, and yet, you've endured. Still, you need to take better care of yourself when everything feels oppressive. Staying digitally connected is not the same as being genuinely connected. Walk away from the wires, devices, algorithms, and hype cycles so that you can feel your feet on the ground and experience the presence of the real life in front of you.

While there is beauty in the interconnectedness, it is also causing fires to be unnecessarily lit, both in your nervous system and the world at large. How can you focus more on being locally and community-driven rather than feeling overwhelmed by the vastness of the global landscape right now?

If everything is local, then local is the best place to start. Just as your healing has a ripple effect, so too does your local impact. It may not feel grand enough to your mind, and yet it's the most powerful way for you to take action. Paralysis caused by constant scrolling of the horrors on the world stage does nothing but keep you in place. Caring for yourself, your family, friends, and neighbors is a more effective use of your energy and attention.

Remember that pursuing joy, creating, and resting are the best forms of resistance, not acts of frivolity. Continue to pursue your dreams with the conviction of someone who instinctively knows that the universe's support is unwavering and unmoved by the realities others are creating. It's time to silence the noise and trust yourself to be an example of what's possible.
