Healing is in the Living

When you look back, what do you see? It’s more than just a collection of achievements, losses, heartbreaks, loves, and memories. It’s a life well-lived. You may not think so, and maybe that’s what has been holding you back, but you have honestly created something so meaningful with the time that you’ve had.

What do you see when you look forward? Hopes, dreams, desires? Fear that you’ll never achieve those hopes, dreams, desires? That’s only human. It would be shocking if you felt deeply confident that you would achieve everything you set your heart to.

If you learn to be in communion with it, fear is more of a guide than a roadblock. Fear is a powerful teacher who shows you where you need to tend to your soul so you can more comfortably walk toward your hopes, dreams, and desires.

Notice that the phrase is “more comfortably.” This is an important nuance because you need to understand that flow still comes with friction.

A rock can stay in flow with the river, but that doesn’t mean it won’t bump and crash into other rocks along the way. Its rough edges get smoothed out with the friction and the current, much like what can happen for you when you refuse to let a bump in the road river anything more than a new pain point for you to tend to.

The trouble is that you may want to get hung up on the pain points and dwell in them for too long. There is power in acknowledgment and a deep dive, but then you have to let yourself come up for air and walk away from it for a time. Acknowledgment is half of the process, and the other half is integrating the lesson and letting yourself make different choices to similarly faced challenges.

Healing comes from living, not from consciously re-opening up the same wound over and over to pour antiseptic into it. You’ll know when you’ve hit the root of an issue, and it’s time to walk away. The challenge is that when you don’t receive a spontaneous healing, or you don’t stop seeing the same problem arise, you stop trusting your instincts.

Sometimes you have to experience something more than once after you’ve gotten to the root to show yourself that you’ve got it under control. That you can make different choices in the face of patterns you thought you’d never change. Embrace these opportunities to continue playing the main character in your own life and watch how, when you celebrate these new steps, your hopes, dreams, and desires are suddenly at your fingertips.

It is not a question of whether or not you will receive them. It’s a question of whether or not you will follow your truth, let yourself heal, and take the instinctive steps to feel safe enough to receive them.

Everything you want can be yours. Let life guide you through your personal curriculum of tending, nurturing, and receiving. It’s as simple as that.
